Courses

Attending courses is a great way to improve your playing and meet other players to exchange ideas and experiences.

You can try out new styles and even new instruments, meet new teachers and broaden your knowledge of repertoire, history and techniques.

BMG

Dave regularly runs mandolin courses for the Banjo Mandolin and Guitar Federation (BMG) for their Summer Schools and at their Biennial Rally. The Summer School weekends are run each year in wonderful locations throughout the UK for both individual and mixed instrument groups. Courses have included Baroque, Folk, String Band, Blues, Jazz and Classical.

Creative Vacances in France

This is a week long course in September in the beautiful grape growing region of central France in the picturesque village of La Moreax. If you are looking for a relaxing break in the sun with swimming pool, fantastic food and improving your mandolin playing at the same time then this is the course for you. Dave focuses on developing inventive playing using Blues, Ragtime and Folk.

Performance Confidence

This is the course for you if you find playing to audiences makes you nervous. It is ideal for learning strategies for managing your state during performances, auditions or taking exams. These courses are open to players of all instruments or anyone needing confidence in front of audiences.

Come and Play

Bristol Mandolin Ensemble is a regular fortnight session to come together with other players to make music for all abilities who have a basic grasp of reading music.

Come and Try

This is the course for you if you have never played a mandolin and would just like to have a go. No experience necessary. If you don’t live in the Bristol area and can’t find a teacher near where you live why not consider lessons via SKYPE. If you have a good internet connection SKYPE is a good option.
